Rogers Wilkin Ahern and Brookes Bell have partnered to provide services for marine risks associated with the energy industry

Marine claims consultants and adjusters, Rogers Wilkin Ahern LLP, and marine scientific and technical consultants and surveyors, Brookes Bell LLP, have created a joint venture, R&B Energy, to provide expert consulting, adjusting and technical investigation services for marine risks associated with the energy industry.

R&B Energy deals with such claims as physical damage to tankers, compression barges, accommodation barges, supply vessels, support vessels and oil rigs and terminals, as well as loss of earnings/ business interruption, marine salvage, project cargo, liabilities and general average. Until now, much of this class of work has been handled by specialist energy adjusters, although it is essentially marine in nature.

“Both firms already have considerable experience in servicing energy-related marine risks, but we haven’t before harnessed our abilities with those of a marine insurance expert to offer the full marine loss adjusting approach to the oil and gas insurance sector.

Ray Luukas, managing partner of Brookes Bell

Nigel Rogers of Rogers Wilkin Ahern stated: ‘We are not setting up as energy adjusters for industry-specific claims, such as control of well. Our specialisation in R&B Energy is marine, and we will be applying that expertise and experience to compete with the energy adjusters when it comes to such risks’.

Ray Luukas, Managing Partner of Brookes Bell, added: ‘Both firms already have considerable experience in servicing energy-related marine risks, but we haven’t before harnessed our abilities with those of a marine insurance expert to offer the full marine loss adjusting approach to the oil and gas insurance sector. We are delighted that under R&B Energy we will now be able to do so’.
