Data sheds light on the major changes this past decade

The world has transformed in the last ten years, but sometimes it’s hard to tell what exactly has changed. This helpful infographic sheds some light on the biggest differences at either end of the decade (it focuses on technology change).

For one thing technology has shrunk unimaginably. This illustration by Brett Jordan says it all.

The world’s population has also grown and many more people now live in cities than in rural areas for the first time. Africa’s population reached a billion, for example. China’s electricity consumption has also quadrupled and it has overtaken America as the largest emitted of greenhouse gases.
