Carbon Trust launches free guide on increasing energy efficiency of display lighting

Retail outlets could save up to 30 % of lighting costs with simple lighting efficiency initiatives, according to the Carbon Trust.

By implementing low cost energy saving measures, such as upgrading to energy efficient light bulbs or making use of natural lighting, retailers can not only save money and reduce carbon emissions, but comply with relevant legislation, said the Trust.

The Trust has launched a free lighting technology guide for retailers, offering advice and tips on how to reduce energy costs and cutting carbon.

Hugh Jones, solutions Director at the Carbon Trust, said: ‘Retailers are increasingly under pressure to demonstrate their environmental credentials to carbon-conscious customers and staff. Increasing the efficiency of display lighting offers the perfect opportunity to both save money and reduce carbon. The Carbon Trust’s technology guide is another tool that can be easily incorporated into a simple energy management programme.’
