Marsh has appointed Stephen Roberts as leader of its London-based Strategic Risk Practice

Marsh has appointed Stephen Roberts as leader of its London-based Strategic Risk Practice. Roberts will report to Eddie McLaughlin, Head of Marsh’s Business Risk Consulting Group.

Marsh’s Strategic Risk Practice identifies and analyses risks relating to clients’ organisations, specific initiatives, projects and decisions, as well as those risks which could have an impact on strategic objectives. It also helps firms develop, implement and audit risk management strategies and processes to meet their goals.

Roberts has worked at Marsh for over ten years in a wide variety of roles. Most recently he was head of risk consulting for Central & Eastern Europe, a practice he established in 2006. He has also led major risk management projects for clients in Poland, Croatia, Malaysia, Dubai, France and the UK.

Commenting on Roberts’s appointment, Eddie McLaughlin, head of Marsh’s Business Risk Consulting Group, said: “Risk can be leveraged into a competitive advantage, yet many companies are still failing to capitalise on these gains. Stephen will play a key role in educating businesses of the benefits of risk management to ensure that their growth is optimised.”

Roberts added: “It is no longer a question of whether organisations ‘have’ risk management but how effectively they are applying risk management to their key business decisions. Those organisations that can use risk management as a business enabler benefit from the added value good risk management can bring. I look forward to building on the success that Marsh already has in this increasingly crucial area for all businesses.”
