StrategicRISK Asia won the inaugural Risk Management Journalism award at the Institute of Risk Management’s Global Risks Awards on Thursday.

The awards ceremony, hosted by British actress Joanna Lumley, brought together almost 400 risk leaders from 20 countries, including Singapore and Indonesia, to London Hilton on Park Lane Hotel to celebrate excellence in risk management.

Fighting off fierce competition from international media, including Cosa Media and Global Risk Regulator, StrategicRISK Asia was recognised for its “comprehensive coverage of risk management-related issues over 2014.

On announcing the winner, IRM communications manager Sush Amar said: “The winner of this award is meeting a vital need in a rapidly expanding market. The judges were particularly impressed by the breadth of [the winner’s] coverage, which blends global, regional and local issues.”

Jack Grocott, publisher of StrategicRISK and its sister title GR, said: “This award reflects the unbelievable work undertaken by Will Sanders, Sean Mooney and Adam Jordan in building the Asia operations from scratch at the end of 2012. They have created a product that is unrivalled in the emerging markets of Asia and a unique brand that covers global, regional and local risk management issues.

“Since its launch, the Asia team, with the support of the London office, has travelled extensively across the region to meet its readers and understand the challenges they face. This has helped inform the quality content that the award recognises.”
