Asia-Pacific and EMEA to get new leaders from 1 July

Fred Kleiterp

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has announced changes to its senior leadership team, including new chief executives for Asia-Pacific and Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA).

Current Asia-Pacific chief executive Fred Kleiterp (pictured) has been appointed EMEA chief executive, returning to the role he held from 2009 to 2013.

From 1 July 2017, Kleiterp will be responsible for managing the strategy, development and performance of the company’s presence in the EMEA commercial insurance markets. He will relocate from Singapore to Zurich.

Kleiterp succeeds Tony Buckle, who has decided to step down as EMEA chief executive, according to a statement from Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.

In APAC, Kleiterp will be replaced by Jonathan Rake, who is promoted to chief executive from his current position as head of South East Asia. Rake will oversee the business and implement the company’s expansion strategy in Asia-Pacific.

His successor has not yet been appointed.

“Jonathan’s extensive network coupled with his industry and local market knowledge makes him the perfect choice to lead our continued growth in Asia Pacific,” states Rudolf Flunger, chief regions officer, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.

“Furthermore, his commercial insurance experience will help us grow our primary lead business, which is one of our strategic objectives.”
