XL Catlin has included France alongside Italy and Iberia within its Southern Europe operations.

Regional manager for Southern Europe Bruno Laval will take on the additional role of country manager France. Simona Fumagalli and José Ramón Morales have been promoted to country manager Italy and country manager Iberia, respectively.

With over 24 years’ experience in the insurance industry, Laval started his career at AXA and joined XL in 2001. As regional manager Iberia and Latin America from 2010, he built up the insurance operations in Brazil and Mexico to serve that region.

In 2015, he was appointed regional manager Southern Europe and Latin America. In his dual role as country manager France, he succeeds Kadidja Sinz, who is leaving XL Catlin by mutual agreement.

Fumagalli joined XL in 2014 from Zurich Insurance as chief underwriting officer professional indemnity within international financial lines, a position she is retaining in addition to her new role. Previously in her career she held underwriting management roles at ACE and Marsh. She succeeds Maurizio Castelli, who has left the company.

In 2012, Morales joined the company as Iberia client and distribution leader. Two years later he was promoted to deputy country manager Iberia. Prior to joining XL he was with AXA, where he was head of commercial lines responsible for the Mediterranean – Latin American region. Before that he held different management and underwriting roles with QBE Insurance, Aon Re and Gen Re.
