AIRMIC’s insurance steering group is planning to canvas members’ views as the basis of a a response to the consultation by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) on its proposals for an employers’ liability insurance bureau and an employers' liability tracing office and has been canvassing The measures are intended to overcome the difficulties of tracing insurers liable for mesothelioma claims, and probably similar long latent industrial disease. With a deadline of 5 May for the consultation period, the exercise is likely to collide with the General Election, but with enough support the necessary legislation will be reintroduced.
