Arup has developed a new framework for corporate sustainability reporting. Corporate SPeAR is a tool for companies that report on their sustainability performance, which recognises that many do not have the resources to develop information and reporting systems.

Features include:

  • a four-quadrant model based on the recognition of the linkages between economic, social, natural resources and environmental systems
  • qualitative headline indicators that provide the basic structure of the reporting framework and reflect the current issues in corporate sustainability reporting
  • a core set of sub-indicators that allows for quantitative performance objectives or targets to be incorporated into the framework.
  • stated targets against which actual performance is appraised
  • a diagram that gives a unique visual profile of sustainability performance.
